The country\'s first Armed Forces Tribunal launched on 8th August 2009.The Armed Forces Tribunal Bill having been passed by both the Houses of Parliament received the assent of the President on 20th December 2007; The armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007 (Act No. 55 of 2007) came into force with effect from 15th June 2008 vide SRO 14(E) dated 13th June 2008. It provides for the adjudication or trial& by the Armed Forces Tribunal of disputes and complaints about commission, appointments, enrollment and service conditions in respect of persons subject to the Army Act 1950, the Navy Act 19 57 and the Air Force Act 1950 and also to provide for appeals arising out of orders, findings or sentences of courts-martial held under the said Acts and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
